Creek_House2 is a revision of a single family house design on a deep wooded lot that is divided by a rippling creek. The deep lot has an existing looped drive that addresses a small cottage. The new house design keeps this drive concept, allowing the living space to address the nature in the rear of the lot and a garage / art studio to be at the sheltered front. Working this drive into the design concept complimented the program of providing an art studio space for the clients. The covered entry court allows the required garage space to be used as a seperated studio. On the second floor an open protected terrace is created over the drive, with bedrooms located on each side. The presence and sounds of nature are ever present within the social areas of the house. The house opens full width to the rear of the property bringing the native oak forest into the interior.

Pervious paving is used throughout the auto court. Green roofs, ventilated metal siding, radiant heating slabs and rainwater catch basins are among some of the sustainable features.
