Alan Fleming started his design and building practice in San Francisco in 1988. StudioFleming is rooted in building spaces and crafting furniture.
One summer in the Midwest, after taking a painting class with a velvet-robed, beret-wearing, large bearded artist with llamas in the yard, Alan turned away from an accounting program to pursue a fine arts degree. Painting and printmaking consumed him and, after a move to California, this was combined with furniture making and carpentry.
Linking an art and architectural education with general contracting and cabinetmaking experience, the studio work is focused on realizing lasting functional designs of substance and emotion. The art of building is merged with the art of design. The studio brings to each project the culmination of these experiences and studio principal Alan Fleming is personally invested in each project.
Award winning design work has been recognized in numerous areas: Painting, Furniture, Art Commissions and Architecture. Design work has been exhibited in numerous exhibitions.
