When the table opens, or "exhales" as Fleming describes, it has greater room for display. When it closes, or "inhales", the frame elements align vertically on the closed side and are offset on the open side to express the handle function. The pivot element is featured prominently, but in proportion to the rest of the table. With its practical function and pleasing aesthetics, its easy to see why Fleming's table earned him first-place recognition."
