Renovation for a 100 year old wood framed cottage on an urban stairway street. Access is by stairway only. Restricted site conditions and original vernacular cottage architecture generate the design. The clients, both artists, wanted studio space added as they wanted to stay on the site. The addition, reflecting cottage scale and proportion, attaches seamlessly and is not visible from the front.
